The Himyarite Kingdom emerged in southern Arabia, in present-day Yemen, with its political center at Ẓafār. Under ʿAmdān Bayān Yahaqbiḍ (c. AD 100–120), Himyar benefited from trade routes linking Arabia with the Red Sea and Indian Ocean worlds. Its coinage combined South Arabian inscriptions with broader Mediterranean influences, reflecting the kingdom’s growing prominence among the states of ancient Yemen.
