Description from the seller

Izumi Ichiago 'Imbuia' Damascus Folding Knife – An Authentic Masterpiece from Sakai, Japan with a unique Mokume Fittings (as seen on Samuraizwaarden by Denbei Shoami)

An exclusive, classically shaped folding knife from the well-known brand Izumi Ichiago. This knife combines traditional Japanese forging techniques with a unique design and high-quality materials. A special collector’s item for the enthusiast.

Forging: 49-Layer Damascus & VG-10 Core

The blade is built around a core of the legendary Japanese VG-10 steel. This steel is known for its extreme hardness and for staying razor-sharp for a very long time. This hard core is protected and supported by no less than 49 layers of beautifully folded Damascus steel, with stainless steel sides to prevent rust.

Exclusive Mokume Design (as on Samuraizwaarden by Denbei Shoami)

The metal jaws (the section between the blade and the handle) are made with the rare Mokume technique. This traditional Japanese method was invented in the 17th century by master smith Denbei Shoami. Originally developed to decorate the strike plates and grips of samurai swords, the technique fuses multiple metal layers under extreme heat and pressure to create a stunning pattern that closely resembles natural wood grain. Each knife thus receives a completely unique look.

Design with German Mastery

This knife is the product of a unique cross-pollination: it combines the centuries-old Japanese forging tradition from Sakai with refined ergonomic design influences from the renowned German knife designer Ernst Siebeneicher-Hellwig. As a result, tradition and modern user-friendliness complement each other beautifully.

Handle of Luxurious Imbuia Wood

The folding knife is built on a sturdy base of solid brass. The grip scales are made from the finest Imbuia wood. This luxury wood has a deep, warm color and a fine grain that pairs beautifully with the gold-toned woodgrain pattern on the metal jaws.

Region of Origin: Sakai / Izumi (Osaka, Japan)

This folding knife comes from the Sakai region (historically Izumi). This Japanese region is world-renowned and has delivered the highest quality handmade knives and swords for more than 600 years. Craftsmanship from this region is known for extreme precision and long durability.
