Description from the seller

Triassic Petrified Wood Slice – Polished Fossil Wood

A striking Triassic petrified wood slice, cut and polished to reveal the preserved internal structure and rich natural mineralization of an ancient tree.

This specimen displays a particularly attractive combination of warm reddish-brown, rust, cream, grey and deep charcoal tones. The polished surface reveals clearly visible growth structures, radiating fibres and concentric patterns that preserve the original organization of the wood.

Numerous natural fractures and mineral-filled veins cross the specimen, creating an intricate pattern and emphasizing the long geological processes involved in its fossilization. The darker outer zones contrast beautifully with the reddish and lighter central areas, giving the piece considerable depth and character.

The irregular natural perimeter has been preserved, retaining part of the rough outer texture and creating a strong contrast with the smooth polished surface.

During petrification, the original organic material was gradually replaced by minerals while much of the wood’s original structure remained preserved, transforming the ancient trunk into stone over millions of years.

Geological Age: Triassic Period, approximately 200–230 million years old

Clear acrylic display stand included.

A highly decorative fossil specimen, ideal for a natural history collection, cabinet of curiosities or interior display.
