This antique Renaissance Utrechtse Toogkast, dated to 1600–1650, is made of oak with quarter-sawn panels and black ebony details.
Description from the seller
Utrecht bar cabinet.
Beautiful Utrecht bar cabinet.
Dutch Renaissance. 1630 – 1670.
The arches in the doors are derived from triumphal arches as they occur in classical architecture.
Magnificent panels of quarter-sawn oak.
The sides are also adorned with arches.
Trade had made the Dutch population among the wealthiest in the world during this period.
Because we were a republic, most of the money did not go to the church or the king, but to entrepreneurs.
They displayed their wealth in their houses and interiors.
As a result, they gave others better-paid work.
This was a revolutionary economic circumstance.
The whole country became rich and powerful, instead of just a small elite.
This was the basis on which the Netherlands became economically so successful.
Those arches were then the triumphal arches of proud citizens.
And consciously intended as a symbol.
Beautiful and balanced distribution of light oak and black ebony.
See also the beautiful panels on the sides.
With refined profiling.
A wide drawer at the bottom.
The cabinet sits on the original blackened feet (ball feet).
Inside a clean and beautiful interior with shelves and a drawer.
Nice compact size: 200 cm high.
The top section can be removed for transport.
Bids under the limit will not be honored.
Prices are very reasonable; therefore I prefer to sell to people who appreciate it.
