Description from the seller
Beautiful tea service on a tray, tin and (plastic) wood. Art Deco. Gero and KMD Daalderop, Netherlands, the 1930s.
A cool tin tea service, design from 1930 by Georg Nilsson for Gero. Consists of a teapot, sugar pot and cream/milk jug. The handle of the teapot still has the original raffia wrapping. Height including knob 13 cm, diameter 14 cm. The sugar pot with lid is 13 cm high and 14 cm in diameter. The cream jug is 5.5 cm high and 8 cm in diameter. All three are free of dents etc. and on the bottom marked with the Gero logo and the monogram GN of Georg Nilsson.
Georg Nilsson (1888-1975) was a Danish silversmith and one of the best-known designers (and at the same time director) of the Gero factory in Copenhagen. After the Danish branch closed, he came to Gero Zeist in 1933. In his Danish years he was already inspired by Art Deco and the Amsterdam School. Until 1957 he designed cutlery, tableware, crockery, etc. for Gero.
The round presentation tray is by KMD Daalderop, dating from the mid-20th century, and is made of plastic with a wenge wood print and a tin rim around it. The wenge effect in plastic is almost indistinguishable from real wood, but less vulnerable and practical to maintain. At the bottom is the seal of KMD (Royal Daalderop). Diameter 40 cm.
