Description from the seller
Salvador Dalí — "The Ten Commandments" | Complete Set of 10 Fine Silver Medals | Limited Edition 672/12,500 | Spain, 1975
A rare and complete medallic series conceived by one of the twentieth century's most celebrated artistic minds. This exceptional set of ten pure silver medals — The Ten Commandments — was designed by Salvador Dalí (1904–1989) in Spain in 1975, and issued in a strictly limited edition of 12,500 numbered sets worldwide.
Each medal presents Dalí's characteristically surrealist visual interpretation of one of the Biblical Ten Commandments, rendered in high-relief casting of extraordinary detail and clarity. Both obverse and reverse carry distinct compositions, with the artist's signature integrated into the relief design itself. The reverse of each piece is further inscribed "Salvador Dalí 1975", confirming the year of production.
The medals are struck in .999 fine silver, each weighing 50 grams, for a combined silver content of 500 grams. They are presented in their original two-part acrylic display cases, each panel engraved with Dalí's iconic printed signature.
This particular set is accompanied by its original Greek-language Certificate of Authenticity, hand-signed by Salvador Dalí, confirming issue number 672 from the edition of 12,500. Also included is the original Greek interpretive booklet — "Οι Δέκα Εντολές — Μια Ερμηνεία του Έργου" (The Ten Commandments — An Interpretation of the Work) — bearing the artist's facsimile signature.
