Beautiful and rare circa 1920 Art Deco porcelain half doll pincushion, surviving as a complete and highly decorative piece with a large deep green velvet pincushion forming the lady’s full skirt.
The porcelain half doll depicts an elegant 1920s lady with short waved hair and delicately hand-painted facial features. She is beautifully posed with one arm raised to her hair and the other gracefully held across her body.
Around her shoulders is a dramatic black feather decoration, which gives the figure a particularly glamorous Art Deco appearance.
The porcelain figure is incorporated into an impressive deep olive/forest-green velvet pincushion, shaped to resemble a voluminous full skirt. The cushion retains its lovely sculptural form and is shown with long decorative hatpins in the photographs.
Complete antique half-doll pincushions of this size and quality are increasingly difficult to find, as many surviving examples are now found only as the separate porcelain figure.
