Elbenwald Hamine – Myrkviðr, Schwanenflug im Nebelmoor, a skull-shaped meteorite from India, weighing 94 g and measuring 4.9 × 3.5 × 3.2 cm.
Description from the seller
“Meyjar flugu sunnan, Myrkvið í gögnum”: Thus begins the Völundr song of the Edda. From the south, girls flew through the Myrkviðr. This dark forest was in Norse tradition not an ordinary wood, but a border between worlds, an impenetrable green through which the heroes of the songs rode into foreign realms. Through it came the three swan-maidens, shed their coats on the shores of a lake, and stayed seven winters with three brothers. One of them was the smith Völund, whom the song calls a prince of the elves. They longed to depart for the entire eighth winter, and in the ninth they flew back into the dark forest.
In this skull lies that forest spread out: lush, almost poisonous-dark moss green, as only the floor of ancient conifer forests knows. Above it glide bright wisps like fog over bleak moorland, or like white feathers left along the path through the green.
Hamine is a trade name for a green-white speckled chalcedony variety, i.e., cryptocrystalline quartz.
Material: Hamine – green-white speckled chalcedony variety (trade name “Elbenwald Hamine”)
Origin: India
Dimensions: 4.9 x 3.5 x 3.2 cm
Weight: 94 g
Special features: Dense interweaving of dark moss green and light, sometimes delicate pinkish wisps across the entire skull
