Three Bronze Age bronze arrowheads (Arrowhead Group (3)) dating to circa 1200–600 BC, in good condition, made of bronze, with overall measurements of about 5.3–7.4 cm in length and 1.5–2.3 cm in width, from a private collection provenance with original authenticity.
Description from the seller
A group of three Bronze Age arrowheads in varying shapes and sizes. Two arrowheads feature a triangular blade with a prominent midrib and short cylindrical stem leading to a narrow tang. One has sharp barbs. The remaining arrowhead is flat, displaying a leaf-shape with a subtle mid-rib and a narrow tang which gradually sharpens into a point. Patination and earthly encrustations to the surface. Chips to the edges of the blades.
In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites, settled in the Western Asiatic area. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of the bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Excavated items often included weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Everyday objects are also found including pins and bracelets. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Archaeological evidence suggests that the bronze objects often serve ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts.
Measurements: L 5.3-7.4cm x W 1.5-2.3cm
Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present.
