A vintage hard-pasted porcelain parrot sculpture by Enst Bohne & Söhne (Rudolstadt, Allemagne), dating from 1901–1920, hand-painted polychrome decoration with relief plumage and foliage, signed and bearing the green N crowned mark under the base, base mold/model number 28 and decorator number 39019, dimensions 9 x 20 x 7 cm, with a very small chip under the base not visible when displayed.
Description from the seller
Exceptional German porcelain figurine, (1901-1920), Macaw Parrot, probably from Ernst Bohne & Söhne, Rudolstadt.
The bird with vibrant tropical plumage (predominantly vivid red, cobalt blue, saffron yellow and green) is beautifully sculpted and perched on a leafy tree trunk.
The piece features a fully hand-painted décor, offering great finesse in the detail of the feathers, the eyes and the textures of the trunk. The vegetal elements and certain details of the plumage are made in relief, giving a naturalistic appearance to the sculpture.
Technical: Hard-paste porcelain molded and shaped with hand-painted decoration and polychrome enameling.
Mark and authenticity:
- Presence under the base of the famous crowned N, printed in green under glaze, characteristic signature of the Bohne & Söhne manufactory, in the Capodimonte style.
- Numbering: Mold/model number 28 engraved in relief in the paste on the rim of the base
- Workshop reference: Decorator number 39019 handwritten under the base.
Note a very small chip under the base, invisible when the figurine is on display. See photos which form part of the description.
Another macaw parrot from the same manufacturer will be put up for sale. Follow my profile. These are two parrots in a paired set, not identical but designed to face each other.
Very careful packaging and fast delivery.
