Belgium – 11 × 20 franc – Albert I and Leopold III – 1933–1935 – Silver 680/1000
Lot of eleven Belgian 20-franc coins from the period 1933–1935, with six coins of Albert I and five coins of Leopold III.
Composition:
Albert I – 6 coins:
1933: 1 Francophone specimen.
1934: 2 Francophone and 3 Dutch-language specimens.
Leopold III – 5 coins:
1934: 1 specimen.
1935: 4 specimens.
These issues bear a bilingual obverse legend.
The Albert I coins were designed by Godefroid Devreese and show the king's portrait and the Belgian coat of arms. The Leopold III coins were designed by Marcel Rau and show the king's portrait and a crown above an ear of wheat and oak leaves.
Silver content: 680/1000.
Standard weight per coin: 11 grams.
Diameter: about 28 mm.
Total theoretical coin weight: 121 grams.
Theoretical amount of pure silver: 82.28 grams.
