Description from the seller
I am pleased to offer you a lot of 4 new Philips DCC cassettes, packaged in their original packaging (thus cannot be tested). These cassettes are increasingly hard to find, especially in new condition, so don’t miss this chance to bring this lot home, as it will not be for sale again soon.
To check the impeccable condition of this lot, we request that you view the published photos, which are genuine and form part of the description, very carefully.
The Philips Digital Compact Cassette (DCC) is an innovative digital audio carrier that Philips introduced in late 1992 as the modern successor to the traditional analog cassette tape.
Key features of DCC cassettes
Digital sound: DCC cassettes store audio digitally using the PASC compression (Precision Adaptive Sub-band Coding). This provided a sound quality that at the time was very close to a CD.
Backward compatibility: A unique selling point was that DCC recorders and players could also play your old, trusted analog cassettes.
Design: The cassettes have a sleek top (without the two holes of the analog cassette) and a metal tab to protect the tape, similar to a floppy disk or a MiniDisc.
Text display: The tape could contain metadata in addition to music, allowing players to display track numbers, artist names, and song titles on the display.
A Philips Digital Compact Cassette (DCC) has an officially maximum weight of 70 grams and the exact dimensions are 100.4 mm × 63.8 mm × 9.6 mm (length × width × thickness).
