Otodus megalodon tooth specimen from Indonesia, dating to the Neogene–Miocene (about 23.03–5.33 million years ago), restored with root restorations, measuring 13.3 cm in height, 9.4 cm in width and 2.6 cm in depth.
Description from the seller
Exceptional Megalodon Tooth with Striking Mineral Leaching
A spectacular fossil tooth of Otodus megalodon, displaying an exceptionally distinctive appearance caused by mineral leaching and mineral alteration during fossilisation.
The crown has developed a remarkable translucent, almost glass-like appearance, with intricate pale mineral patterns running throughout the fossilized enamel. These natural mineral structures create an unusual contrast between the darker fossilized areas and the lighter, translucent crown, giving the specimen a highly aesthetic and almost crystalline appearance.
The tooth retains its impressive classic Megalodon morphology, with a broad triangular crown and clearly visible serrations along the cutting edges. The unusual mineralisation makes this specimen particularly attractive for collectors looking for Megalodon teeth with something beyond the typical brown, grey or blue colouration.
The root has some restorations
Mineral leaching is a natural geological process that can alter the original composition and appearance of fossil material over millions of years. The resulting patterns and translucency are unique to the individual specimen and cannot be reproduced artificially.
A highly unusual and visually striking Megalodon tooth, especially appealing to collectors who appreciate rare mineralogical characteristics and exceptional fossil aesthetics.
A beautiful example of how geological processes can transform an already extraordinary prehistoric fossil into something truly unique.
