Description from the seller

This vintage table lamp is Model 210 designed by Alphonse Pinoit for the French brand Ki-É-Klair (1920s–1950s), characterized by a chrome telescopic arm and an adjustable aluminum reflector with a vertical mounting clamp (the clamps fully functional).

The Ki-É-Klair brand (a phonetic French wordplay literally meaning "Qui éclaire", i.e. "Who lights up") was founded in Asnières/Levallois-Perret by mechanic and engineer Alphonse Pinoit (1881–1961). The company specialized in the production of high-precision articulated lamps for offices, workshops and professional studios.

The signed butterfly screws: a fundamental detail for purists is the original large butterfly screws on the mounting clamp (missing a metal base, as in the photo, but this compromises stability).

Very few specimens are perfectly preserved; the screws bear engraved the designer’s initials (AP) and the manufacturer's logo.

Ball joint and 360° versatility: besides the lower telescopic arm (which allows height adjustment by sliding it), the lamp features a ball joint that lets the illuminating body rotate 360 degrees. It can even be oriented completely upward to function as ambient diffused light (uplighter).

Unusual vertical mounting: unlike the vast majority of clamp lamps of the era, designed to be hooked horizontally to the edge of the table, Model 210 was specifically designed for vertical mounting. It is ideal to be anchored to the leg of a desk, to a drawing-table stand, to a tube, or to the edge of a shelf.

In short, an innovatively disproportionate lamp compared with lamps in circulation.

Wiring and plug were changed in the 1980s; it fits screw-in bulbs widely used in France but available elsewhere (it will be shipped without one).

For continuous use, please seek the advice of a professional electrician.
