Otodus megalodon specimen from Indonesia, dating to the Neogene–Miocene (about 23.03–5.33 million years ago), restored with renovated-original authenticity.
Description from the seller
Exceptional Giant Megalodon Tooth – Massive Root & Striking Natural Mineralisation
An impressive and highly distinctive fossil tooth of Otodus megalodon, displaying an exceptionally massive root, broad triangular crown and striking natural mineralisation.
This is a true statement specimen, with an imposing overall morphology and substantial root structure. The combination of the enormous, robust root and broad triangular crown gives this tooth the characteristic appearance of one of the most formidable predators ever to inhabit the world's oceans.
The crown exhibits a beautiful pale, almost translucent fossilised appearance, with natural mineral alteration and leaching creating intricate patterns throughout the enamel. The contrast between the translucent crown, darker mineralised areas and substantial fossilised root gives the specimen an especially unusual and aesthetic appearance.
The cutting edges retain their fine serrated morphology, a characteristic feature of Otodus megalodon. Megalodon teeth are characterised by their broad triangular crowns, robust roots and regular serrations along the cutting edges.
The back side of the crown has a minor restauration
What makes this specimen particularly attractive is its massive proportions and powerful morphology. Rather than simply being a large tooth, it has the visual presence of a genuine display specimen, with an exceptionally substantial root and impressive overall volume.
