AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Circa 1920. École de Nancy. France

Magnificent little Gallé soliflore vase in multi-layered acid-etched glass, remarkable for the elegance of its silhouette and the delicacy of its charming cherry blossom branch decor laden with fruit.

Its softly flattened, rounded body rises into a long slender, elegant neck, which opens delicately into a small flared corolla. A graceful and balanced silhouette, characteristic of this pursuit of harmony between form and nature so dear to Art Nouveau and to the École de Nancy.

On a superb satin background with warm shades of orange, caramel, and amber, an elegant dark chocolate brown decor of cherry branches unfolds. The leaves, deeply cut and finely veined, mingle with sinuous stems to which small round, generous cherries are suspended.

The decoration, acid-etched with great finesse, plays wonderfully with the different thicknesses and tones of the glass. Some cherries reveal delicate transparencies and, illuminated by light, glow with subtle amber and honey reflections, adding depth and relief to the composition.

But the decor does not stop at adornment of the body: the branches continue along the sides, climb up the neck, and meet its opening, truly giving the impression that the cherry tree climbs naturally around the vase.

This fully rotating composition is gradually discovered as one turns the piece, revealing new leaves, branches, and fruits at every angle.

The signature “Gallé” in cameo, delicately integrated into the decor on the body, perfects this charming creation of the École de Nancy.

With its lovely height of about 14.5 cm, this vase possesses all the charm of a small precious piece: a fragment of nature captured in glass, where the warmth of the orange background, the depth of the dark chocolate brown, and the golden transparencies of the cherries seem to have frozen forever a moment of summer.

Vase in very good condition for its great age, making this very beautiful and rare piece of collection from the famous master glassmaker of the early 20th century, a unique and rare item that will surely enhance your interior and draw the admiration of your guests!

Under the base appears a pretty mark of the pontil scar from the blown rod, snapped off with pliers, a moving testament to the old manufacturing techniques and the remarkable artisanal know-how.

Very beautiful Art Nouveau period piece from the École de Nancy. Daum Nancy, Legras, Le verre Français, Schneider, Lalique...
