Description from the seller

Elegant tableware service for 8 people produced by the historic Società Ceramica Italiana di Laveno, one of the most prestigious Italian porcelain and ceramic manufacturers of the twentieth century, which in the 1960s merged into the Richard Ginori group. This particular service was made around the time of the merger between the two leading names in Italian ceramics, evidence of the model that closely mirrors the famous "Antico Doccia" by Richard Ginori.

The Antico Doccia form defines the deepest essence, identifying the Richard Ginori manufactory worldwide as a Maison of excellence in pure porcelain and design. Curved lines and a profile inspired by Florentine late-Baroque silverware make Antico Doccia a timeless collection. This service is produced by the Manifattura di Laveno with the same characteristics as Richard Ginori's Antico Doccia model, but in cream-colored porcelain. Moreover, each piece is gilded with a fine gold filet that runs along the edge of the plates.

The design, free of figurative decorations and characterized by the purity of its shapes, lends itself particularly well to a classic, elegant, and contemporary table setting, where the quality of the porcelain and the edge finish become the distinguishing elements.

The set is complete for 8 people and consists of:
8 dinner plates
8 soup plates
8 dessert plates
1 tureen
1 sauce boat
1 spoon
2 oval trays in different sizes
1 salad serving bowl with a small lip

Excellent overall condition. Only the salad bowl has a more evident defect.

Seller's Story

My name is Riccardo. I recently graduated in Art History from the University of Florence and I am passionate about porcelain. From tableware to artistic vases, from figurines to tea and coffee sets, I am fascinated by the mastery and creativity of great artisans and designers who manage to shape this fragile material, transforming a rough mass into masterpieces with a story to tell. During my years at university I began to become interested in the history of nineteenth- and twentieth-century tableware; today, every day, I deal with prestigious porcelain pieces that always have something to say to me and to those who purchase them. I love that every day I can discover more about the objects I find while traveling around Italy, always learning something new. I always try to convey to my clients this passion I have for the objects I sell, certain that each of them has a story to tell: that of the creator, that of the one who preserved it, and that of the person who will give it a new life.
