Description from the seller

Tableware set for 8 people composed of 8 shell-shaped porcelain dishes from the prestigious French manufacture Pillivuyt.

Present in the Berry (central France) for 200 years, Pillivuyt is one of the oldest and most prestigious French porcelain brands. From the beginning, the company has been deeply rooted in local tradition. The brand bears the name of its founder: Louis Charles Pillivuyt. The company remained family-run from its creation until World War II.
Over the years, Pillivuyt has distinguished itself not only nationally but also internationally. From the United States to Australia, via the United Kingdom, Pillivuyt has stood out since 1823 as one of the world leaders of French porcelain. The manufacture has won no fewer than 5 World Expos: 1855 (Paris), 1862 (London), 1867 (Paris), 1878 (Paris) and 1889 (Paris).
Since the early 20th century, Pillivuyt has created some products that have become emblematic today, such as the “Bistro cup” or the “Lion Head soup tureen.” Today, master porcelain makers perpetuate their know-how, which rewards quality and 100% French manufacturing. This know-how allowed Pillivuyt to receive the label “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant,” which distinguishes French companies with authentic expertise.
Some traditional and century-old production practices have been preserved, such as artisanal workmanship.

Excellent condition.
Dimensions: 4x17x14 cm.

Rare object.

Seller's Story

My name is Riccardo. I recently graduated in Art History from the University of Florence and I am passionate about porcelain. From tableware to artistic vases, from figurines to tea and coffee sets, I am fascinated by the mastery and creativity of great artisans and designers who manage to shape this fragile material, transforming a rough mass into masterpieces with a story to tell. During my years at university I began to become interested in the history of nineteenth- and twentieth-century tableware; today, every day, I deal with prestigious porcelain pieces that always have something to say to me and to those who purchase them. I love that every day I can discover more about the objects I find while traveling around Italy, always learning something new. I always try to convey to my clients this passion I have for the objects I sell, certain that each of them has a story to tell: that of the creator, that of the one who preserved it, and that of the person who will give it a new life.
