Description from the seller

Sculpture by Nino Gobbis, bas-relief carving on faesite.
This 50 x 50 panel uses the gouge to create the raised reliefs.
Gobbis, a highly regarded artist known in the Venetian art scene of the twentieth century, whose works were shown at the Venice Biennale in the 1950s, these panels represent an extraordinary fusion between figurative art and high interior design.
These panels were originally made for a famous furniture maker of the Montebelluna, Treviso area; these elements fit within that vintage 1950s-60s design current.
The piece is not just a piece of furniture but a fragment of design history with all the premises to acquire increasing value over time.

The composition is inspired by the informal exploration of decoration from the 1950s/60s, a sort of archaic script in which silhouettes and life-prospects appear, pictograms of a life narrative.
The contrast between the light gray, textured and irregular background.

Nino Gobbis used faesite or Masonite as the matrix. Being an industrial material free of natural veins, it allows for precise lines, uniform fills, and a surface decidedly harder and more durable.
The object testifies to an era when Celotto Arreda furniture represented, with these inserts, the interior design of the time.

Gobbis collaborated with Celotto Arreda, which in the 1950s produced furnishings designed by famous Italian architects and designers such as Piero Celotto, commissioning decorative panels from artists like Nino Gobbis to furnish bourgeois homes, offices, hotels, or cruise ships. This type of art unites artistic craftsmanship with design production, integrating sculpture seamlessly with interior architecture of the era.
The panel has undergone no treatment and retains all its charm.

Nino Gobbis, Italian painter and engraver active in the mid-twentieth century, a figure deeply linked to the world of signature interior design and Treviso modern collectability of the 1950s and 1960s.

These panels are characterized by a typographically-driven aesthetic, with motifs reflecting European avant-gardes of the first half of the century (with geometric and abstract references adapted to the geometric and organic taste of the 1950s).

Origin declaration:

I declare that this panel comes from the private collection of the Celotto family of Montebelluna, which has kept it in their possession since the time of its manufacture. The work later became part of my private collection and is offered for sale with this provenance declaration, given in good faith.

For shipping, the object is protected or provided with a double layer of plywood or corrugated cardboard, 5 cm thick, to avoid transport damage; unfortunately this affects shipping costs.
