Jamet - Côte-Rôtie Côte Brune, vintage 2007, in a 0.75 litre bottle, one bottle.
Description from the seller
A very special and highly sought-after specimen from the Northern Rhône: Côte-Rôtie Côte Brune 2007 from Domaine Jamet.
Domaine Jamet belongs to the classic top names of Côte-Rôtie and is known for wines that combine finesse, complexity, and the characteristic spiciness of Syrah. Côte Brune is the domain’s only vineyard designation and has been made since 1976 from grapes sourced from the eponymous, famous terroir. The vineyard consists of the characteristic schist soils of Côte Brune.
The wine is traditionally made from 100% Syrah, with vinification on full clusters and a long aging of about 24 months in barrel. About 30% of the barrels are new. The result is a powerful yet refined Côte-Rôtie with great aromatic complexity and an impressive aging potential.
The 2007 is now beautifully expressed as a mature Côte-Rôtie. In the glass, aromas emerge of dark fruit, blackcurrant and blackberry, violets, black pepper, smoked meat, graphite, and subtle earthy notes. The palate is concentrated and sturdy, but offers enough freshness and ripe tannins to keep the wine nicely balanced. A recent tasting note describes a very long finish and a combination of intensity and elegance.
The wine also has a clear collectability status. Côte Brune is produced in very limited quantities, and older Jamet vintages are internationally highly sought after. A current specialized price list even lists the 2007 Côte Brune at €550 per bottle, underscoring the rarity of this cuvée.
