AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Refined and impressive pair of sculptural keys in solid sterling silver 925/1000, with a total weight of 335 grams. Made in Florence by the silversmith Giuseppe Fallani, the two sculptures offer a substantial dramatic presence, measuring 15 cm by 5.5 cm and 14.5 cm by 6 cm respectively. The works belong to the best tradition of Florentine artistic silverware from the second half of the 20th century (circa 1970–1980), inspired by the decorative repertoires of the Renaissance and Baroque. The casting technique, finished in chased detail, is enhanced by a dark natural patina in the recessed areas, giving depth and a three-dimensional quality to the reliefs.
The first key, Renaissance-inspired (15 x 5.5 cm), features a finely pierced head with a laurel crown and two mythological figures facing each other to protect a central, fully rounded lily. The shaft is joined by an elegant Corinthian capital and ends in a complex curved grid pattern with a striped lacing. The second key, Baroque-inspired (14.5 x 6 cm), presents a pierced head with volutes topped by a royal crown; of notable plastic value is the full-round interlocking knot sculpted with a grotesque mask. The hollow stem shows cloverleaf carvings and opens into a square, pierced grid motif in a cross pattern.
On both motifs are impressed and perfectly legible all the guarantee stamps: the title “925” in an oval, the State mark “★ 187 FI” of Giuseppe Fallani’s workshop, the author’s monogram, and the prestigious full-length Michelangelo’s David figure mark, reserved for outstanding Florentine goldsmithing works. Both pieces retain their original gilded cords and are kept in excellent condition, free of defects or restorations and with the purposely preserved antique patina."
