AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
PENTAX Spotmatic SP + Super-Takumar 55mm F1.8, tested and working.
Hello from Japan!
We provide high-quality cameras and lenses to the world.
The Asahi Pentax Spotmatic of 1964 is one of the pivotal cameras in SLR history: among the first to put a through-the-lens exposure meter into a mass-produced body, it made accurate metering effortless and sold in the millions worldwide. Its M42 screw mount became a universal standard. It is fitted with the Super-Takumar 55mm f/1.8, a classic standard lens prized for its smooth focus and gentle rendering, and still much loved for adaptation to digital cameras today.
Condition: Used — Excellent
Pre-owned, moderate signs of use, optics clear
Serial Number
Please check the photo.
Appearance
Scuffs and scratches from normal use. Please check the photos for details.
Optical Condition
Lens: Clear, no issues
Viewfinder: Some dust and slight prism deterioration; does not affect use
Functional
Power, meter and shutter work; measured shutter speeds are accurate.
Exposure runs about 1.5 stops over.
Light seals replaced and viewfinder interior cleaned.
Measured Performance
We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured:
- 1 s — measured 1/0.9 s (approx. 0.2 stop slow)
- 1/60 — measured 1/48 s (approx. 0.3 stop slow)
- 1/1000 — measured 1/704 s (approx. 0.5 stop slow)
- Light meter accuracy — EV12: 1.7 OVER / EV15: 1.6 OVER
Negative film has enough latitude to absorb deviations of this size, but the figures are here so you can judge for yourself.
Servicing
This camera was serviced by us before listing:
- Light seals (foam) replaced
- Viewfinder cleaned internally

Only what you can see in the pictures will be included in the package.
