Description from the seller
This magnificent biscuit porcelain bust represents the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Made by the famous German manufacture Goebel, this piece combines the finesse of modeling with the purity of matte porcelain, which imitates the appearance of Carrara white marble.
Strengths of the piece:
- Craftsmanship: The face is treated with great softness, capturing the emblematic expression of the musician. The details of the wig and the jabot lace attest to Goebel's skill.
- Artist's signature: The piece is signed "Bochmann" in relief on the back of the bust, corresponding to Gerhard Bochmann, one of the most renowned sculptors of the Goebel manufactory.
- Presentation: The bust rests on an elegant blackened wooden base, adorned with a gold plaque indicating the full name and life dates of the composer (1756-1791).
- Authenticity: Under the base there is the original Goebel label as well as the mention "Bisquitporzellan" and "W. Germany", placing production between 1950 and 1990.
Condition:
- Bust: Excellent condition. The porcelain is sound, with no cracks or visible restorations. Very light traces of dust in the folds, typical of antique biscuit porcelain.
- Label: Present and legible under the base.
It is a collectible piece ideal for decorating a piano, a library, or to complete a collection of prestigious German porcelains.
