Description from the seller
Here I present a trio of “thread-of-sized” suspensions.
A series of blown glass luminaires made in a craftsman glassmaker’s workshop in France. Each piece is hand-blown in my studio, the colors and shapes are unique and will never be reproduced identically. I wanted to create rhythm with a fine graphic line that contrasts with a very straight, taut form; the organic size will create a rhythm. A light path that winds around the piece reveals the structure. The bottom of the piece is cut and re-polished, keeping sharp, clean angles.
To make these luminaires, I start with a gradient background color and then add an opaque white on the exterior. Once the piece is finished, I engrave and carve the surface with a diamond wheel to reveal the inner color. When the piece is lit, the “thread” becomes very luminous and creates a powerful graphic.
The finish is simple: only a brass plate with a cable clip. Each suspension is independent and can be placed anywhere; a wall-applicator system will be provided with it. You will thus be able to compose and arrange the suspensions as you wish in the space. It will therefore be easy to adapt them to all interiors and living spaces.
