Bukhara: The Bukhara rug is the best known of Uzbek rugs. They are made to the west of the Uzbek capital. Timeless, they are easily recognizable by their repetitive patterns—elephant’s paw or Gul—and by their blood-red color.
These rugs are made in the city of Bukhara in Uzbekistan. The label “Bukhara rug” is generally used to describe rugs whose design recalls the classic Bukhara pattern of Turkmen inspiration, which consists of a vivid red background and several circular motifs.
