• Condition: Excellent condition - barely used with extremely minor signs of wear
Magnificent circular coupe on a low foot (type compote or fruit bowl) in fine earthenware from the famous Émaux de Longwy factory, fully decorated and hand-enhanced.
The basin features a rich polychrome decoration inspired by Asian motifs, characterized by a brilliant turquoise blue background adorned with a dense scatter of flowers. In the center, a poly-lobed medallion with a cracked beige ground depicts a superb crested bird perched on a flowering branch. The rim of the bowl is outlined by a frieze of stylized scrolls on a cobalt blue background. The exterior reverse bears a magnificent solid turquoise cover resting on a cobalt blue foot.
The Longwy black outline technique gives exceptional relief and depth to the motifs of this collectible piece.
• Markings and signatures on the back:
• Official green factory stamp with crowned shield and fleurs-de-lis: "Décoré à la main - Émaux de Longwy - Made in France".
• Handwritten note "Rehaussé main" followed by the artisan's initials (JM).
• Numbered cartouche indicating Form (3020) and Décor (5834).
• Impressed mark in the clay (8L9).
• Diameter: ~ 20 cm
• Height: ~ 6 cm
Condition report
• Condition: Excellent overall, near mint.
• Details: No chips, no cracks, no restorations. The enamel glaze colors remain extremely fresh, vivid and bright. The crazing of the glaze in the central medallion is original and completely normal for this type of piece.
