Description from the seller
Jean-Michel Folon (1934–2005) – Calabash – Vase in terracotta – Model no. 16A
Important sculptural vase in terracotta by Jean-Michel Folon (1934–2005), made at La Tuilerie de Treigny, in Yonne.
Of large size and with a flattened form evoking a calabash, the vase features an incised decoration of stylized faces, immediately recognizable from Folon’s graphic and poetic vocabulary. The clay, left intentionally expressive, preserves the irregularities of shaping, variations in firing and the characteristic texture of this production.
The base bears the various workshop stamps and Folon’s marks, notably “Folon”, “La Tuilerie – Treigny” and “Plein Feu – Empreinte originale”, as well as the handwritten reference 16A.
Dimensions: H. 50 cm × L. 40 cm approx.
Material: terracotta / ceramic.
Workshop: La Tuilerie, Treigny, France.
Model reference: 16A.
Edition: 8 copies.
Very good overall condition. The surface irregularities, variations in material, firing traces and small cracks visible are characteristic of the shaping and firing of this important artisanal ceramic.
The photos are an integral part of the object's description and complement its presentation. They allow you to appreciate its condition and features. Please examine them carefully before any commitment.
