Description from the seller
Pendant reliquary of the Holy Cross
Precious metal reliquary from the second half of the 19th century, containing inside a fragment of the Holy Cross of Our Lord Jesus.
On the back is placed its own seal in Episcopal sealing wax.
The reliquary features floral motifs along the edge,
Most Holy Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Domini Nostri Jesu Christi):
A wooden fragment traditionally identified as part of the cross on which Jesus of Nazareth was crucified. Considered the most sacred among Christian relics, this fragment embodies a powerful symbolic value. The Holy Cross represents the culmination of the mystery of the Passion, the Redemption, and the salvific sacrifice of Christ for humanity.
An object of pilgrimage, contention, and veneration for centuries, it is today a tangible testimony of one of the most decisive events in Western civilization; an object of extraordinary devotion since ancient times, it is guarded with the utmost reverence as a tangible sign of the supreme act of divine love.
The Cross is the universal symbol of the Christian faith, representing martyrdom, sacrifice, and victory over sin and death. The relic embodies the Redemption of humanity, and each fragment is considered a conduit of spiritual grace, a source of consolation and protection for those who entrust themselves to it.
To venerate a fragment of the Holy Cross means to participate spiritually in the sacrifice of Christ, invoking strength in tribulations, unwavering faith, and eternal hope.
