Indonesian amber from the Cenozoic era, a natural polished blue amber specimen (HQ Freeform Blauwe Barnsteen) weighing 178 g and measuring 9.5 by 7.5 cm, authentic/original with UV verification.
Description from the seller
100% real amber. All pieces are personally tested by me for authenticity with a UV lamp. I give a personal guarantee here. See the last photo as an example of the UV lamp test. Real amber turns blue under UV light.
Blue amber (or blue amber) is the least common and most rare variant of amber in the world, which under the influence of UV light (such as sunlight) transforms from golden-brown to an intensely fluorescent blue color.
Natural phenomenon: Under artificial light or against a light background the stone appears yellow, honey-colored, or deep dark red. However, once UV radiation hits it, the molecules (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons such as perylene) light up and a spectacular blue glow appears.
Origin: This type of fossil resin is millions of years old and is mainly derived from the extinct prehistoric tree species Hymenaea protera. Blue amber originates from the Miocene and Oligocene epochs, geological periods dating from 15 to 40 million years ago.
