Description from the seller

Antique French Art Nouveau Silver-Plated Wine Bottle Holder / Cradle by Victor Saglier - Paris, c. 1880-1894

An exquisite and highly decorative late 19th-century French silver-plated wine bottle holder (wine cradle) created by the renowned Parisian master goldsmith Victor Saglier.
Dating from the historic Art Nouveau / Belle Époque period, this elegant piece features a beautifully sculpted body adorned with ornate asymmetrical scrolls, acanthus leaves, rocaille motifs, and stylized fluid openwork handles typical of the French school of decorative arts. It stands securely on four elaborate organic-shaped feet.
Designed with elegant, flowing lines and an ergonomic, titled cradle shape, this luxury presenter is perfectly suited for serving fine wine or champagne at an upscale table setting. It offers a spectacular presentation for a 75cl bottle, combining practical table utility with timeless Parisian antique charm.
Maker’s Marks (Hallmarks):
Fully marked on the base with authentic period stamps:
• "ARGENTÉ" — indicating high-quality silver plating over a base metal alloy.
• The Master Goldsmith Mark: A rectangular punch featuring a traditional three-masted ship (galleon) flanked by the initials "V" and "S", verifying the direct authorship of Victor Saglier’s workshop in Paris before 1894.
