Description from the seller

Saint Mitrophan of Voronezh (Митрофан Воронежский), bishop and one of the most venerated Russian saints. The inscription preserved on the icon reads clearly «С. МИТРОФАН… ВОРОНЕЖ…».
- On either side of the central saint, other monastic saints and hierarchs appear, forming an intercession composition.
- At the top, in the center, is the Dormition of the Mother of God (УСПЕНИЕ ПРЕСВЯТЫЯ БОГОРОДИЦЫ): the Virgin lies on the bed and Christ appears behind her, holding her soul in the form of a small figure.
- Upper left identifies Saint Paraskeva (Св. Параскева).
- Upper right seems to depict Saint Salomonia/Solomonia (Св. М. Соломония).

Saint Mitrophan appears here in monastic habit with a staff, while the two figures accompanying him wear episcopal vestments and mitres. This suggests that we are not looking at an isolated depiction of Saint Mitrophan, but at a devotional icon of several saints, created for a community or for a private person who held special veneration for these saints.
