Eye sarcophagus mask from Ancient Egypt, Late Period (664–332 BC), carved in limestone with a schist eyebrow, original and in good condition; 5.3 cm long without stand, copper stand included (12 cm high, 9 cm long); acquired in 2024 from a private collection in France.
Description from the seller
Eye sarcophagus mask.
The eyebrow is carved from schist, the eye from a piece of limestone, and the iris—now lost—may have been made of glass paste to bring the face to life.
