Description from the seller

Fraraccio "Roncola" – Rare traditional southern Italian farmer’s knife – BLACK ABS – 18 cm – 420 INOX steel – Early 2000s

Category Catawiki

Collectible knives > Italian traditional knives > Fraraccio

Description

Fascinating and uncommon Fraraccio "Roncola", made in the early 2000s by the historic Frosolone cutlery shop, an authentic expression of the rural tradition of Southern Italy.

This particular model stands out immediately for its curved roncola-style blade, a configuration designed to offer a secure grip and excellent practicality during everyday use. It is a knife deeply linked to the agricultural and farming world, used for generations in the countryside of Southern Italy.

The handle is made of Black ABS

The blade is constructed from 420 INOX steel, a material prized for robustness, reliability, and corrosion resistance. The distinctive curved shape makes this knife instantly recognizable and testifies to its original purpose as a working tool in agricultural and rural activities.

For generations similar models have accompanied peasants, breeders, and craftsmen in daily tasks, becoming indispensable tools of country life. At the same time, as with many traditional Italian knives, it was often present during convivial moments, during work breaks, country fairs, and gatherings among friends, where it was used to share bread, cheeses, salami, and local specialties.

Today the Fraraccio Roncola is considered a particularly interesting model that is not easy to find on the market, especially in such excellent preservation conditions. A knife that combines rarity, history, and tradition in a single piece.
