Rare African Cameroon Bamileke Sword with Original Leather Sheath
It is one of the most sought-after African weapons among collectors.
Features:
The heavy, hand-forged iron blade is characteristic of this type:
• Wide, straight blade with traditional punched point decoration (chisel work)
• Characteristic open crescent-shaped notch at the point
• Carved wooden handle with Y-shaped / crown-shaped pommel, with beautiful patina from use
• Complete with the very rare, original double leather sheath.
The sheath is made of thick, sewn cowhide with two large carrying rings wrapped with copper wire.
This is the classic type of sheath worn on the back.
The sheath is in its original, unrestored condition.
This is a museum-worthy piece of tribal art with a powerful presence.
