Description from the seller
Art Nouveau tile 1900
Description:
A beautifully designed and decorative Italian ceramic tile from the mid-century period (c. 1950–1970), rendered in a moody Art Nouveau revival style. This high-quality piece immediately catches the eye with its refined formal language and rich color palette.
The deep cobalt blue glaze forms a lovely contrast with the stylized, sculptural wine leaves and graceful relief tendrils. The tile is enriched with an iridescent copper- and luster-glaze (which shows a beautiful mother-of-pearl-like oil sheen when light hits it) and warm gold-toned accents in the background. On the back, the object is marked with "MADE IN ITALY".
The piece sits in a handsome, matching curved brass-colored metal coaster frame with delicate feet, making it not only a atmospheric collectible but also a stunning display in a classical or eclectic interior.
