Antique German Regulator wall clock, ca. 1890–1905, with a carved wooden case (likely walnut or veneer), enamel dial with Roman numerals, mechanical eight-day movement with two winding points and a multi-gong strike, decorative multi-metal pendulum with R and A speed control, in good condition with age-related wear.
Description from the seller
Beautifully crafted antique regulator wall clock from Germany, probably manufactured around 1890 to 1905.
The clock is executed in Gründerzeit, neorenaissance style and features a richly decorated wooden case with turned columns, ornaments and a characteristic crown with a decorative mask head at the center.
The clock has a mechanical eight-day movement with separate going train and striking work. The two winding holes are located in the dial. The striking sounds on multiple gong rods.
The light dial has Roman numerals and gracefully shaped black hands. The original aging is clearly visible in the form of crazing and some hairlines in the dial. This fits the age of the clock and contributes to its authentic character.
The clock has a special multi-part metal pendulum. In the pendulum there is a decorative insert with the markings R and A, Retard and Advance, for regulating the running speed.
