Created by renowned French photographer Patrick Demarchelier, one of the most important names in international fashion photography, known for Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. For many collectors, his name alone lends prestige to the edition. It marked a "return to the origins" of the Pirelli Calendar: after highly elaborate and colorful editions, 2005 returned to sensual yet elegant black-and-white photographs, in the classic style of the Calendar's golden years. The iconic 2005 Pirelli Calendar is one of the editions with the most "historic" cast of the 2000s: it includes Naomi Campbell, Adriana Lima, Isabeli Fontana, and Erin Wasson, many of whom would later become absolute icons of 2000s fashion.
