Working Wall
Alec Soth
Amana/2013/japanese/180*210*3
Alec Soth's photobook Working Wall represents contemporary photography. This volume compiles the collages he created on his studio wall during the production of his masterpiece Broken Manuel. The following is from Soth's message in the appendix: "I have never considered myself a studio artist. It's been eight years since I rented my current studio, and I don't think I've ever done a serious shoot here. However, the studio held a crucial position during the creation of the ‘Broken Manuel’ series. I set up a room inside the studio called ‘The Cave,’ painted the walls gray, and pinned up photographs, notes, tickets, and other items, continuing the collage. This ‘Working Wall’ was, in a sense, the brain behind Broken Manuel."
