Diary
Peter Beard
libroport/1993/japanese/300*235*20
Diary" is a collection of work by American photographer and artist Peter Beard. After studying at Yale University with Josef Albers and others, he moved to Kenya. While working in Tsavo National Park, he documented African wildlife, nature, and human activities, including elephant corpses overhunted by hunters, and his 1965 book “The End of the Game,” a compilation of these works, has earned Beard international acclaim as his masterpiece. This book is a collection of Beard's diary entries, which he has kept since around 1950. The diary is a bold collage of photographs, drawings, text, and magazine clippings. In his commentary, photo critic Kotaro Iizawa writes, "You can open any page of the ‘diary’ and you will find a view that is a jumble of Beard's memories and records. It is a series of images that seem to look into Beard's brain. Art direction is by Tsuguya Inoue.
