Description from the seller

Elegant Italian Louis XV-style chest of drawers, circa 1940s.
Beautifully shaped three-drawer commode with a pronounced serpentine front and bombé form, raised on four elegant cabriole legs with hand carved decorative feet.

The chest is veneered in richly figured walnut/burl walnut, enhanced by moulded wooden frames and carved floral and foliate details to the corners and lower apron. The drawers retain their original ornate dark metal handles and escutcheons.

The piece is particularly distinguished by its original carved black glass top, decorated with delicate hand-painted gold scrollwork and foliate motifs along the perimeter. The combination of the dark carved glass and warm figured walnut creates a striking decorative contrast.

It is a very refined and of excellent construction that gives the piece of furniture a noble and affected appearance.

Presented of some chips on front wood surface, consistent to age and use (seen on photos).

Measurement:
Width 157 x depth 62 cm x height 89.5cm
