Philips NG 1361 4-Speed Portable Tube/Valve Gramophone in excellent condition, fully functional and playable, with power supply and mains cable, dating from 1958–1961 and weighing 7 kg.
Description from the seller
For sale is a genuine design classic from the rock ’n’ roll era: the legendary suitcase record player Philips NG 1361, affectionately nicknamed in the German-speaking world as the “hatbox” due to its elegant, rounded shape.
The unit is in exceptionally good condition for its age and, above all, fully functional. Unlike many purely decorative objects, this turntable runs smoothly and plays music without any issues.
• Condition & appearance: The brown faux leather case is superbly preserved. The brass fittings, the original carrying handle, and the Philips logo on the inside shine beautifully. The original power cable with plug is undamaged and secure.
• Technical highlights: 4 speeds (16, 33, 45, 78 RPM). The tonearm features the original cartridge with a switchable needle for microgroove (M – vinyl LPs/singles) and standard groove (N – shellac records).
• Note on patina: The plastic ventilation grille at the rear/bottom shows, along one edge, heat-induced mild deformations (softening) from the warmth of the tube amplifier. This is a typical feature of this model and does not affect function in any way. A rare opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts of mid-century design!
