A six‑piece Tintin collection including the 1938 Petit Vingtième, a 1946 Tintin issue, four Tintin journals and a 1954 Tintin calendar; central piece is the iconic 1938 Petit Vingtième, all in very good condition with vivid colours and carefully packed for fragile archival use.
Description from the seller
Very beautiful antique set around the Tintin universe, gathering 6 items from different periods: 4 Tintin newspapers, 1 early issue of Le Petit Vingtième from 1938, and 1 Tintin calendar from 1954.
The centerpiece of this set is undoubtedly Le Petit Vingtième of 1938, a historically emblematic publication of the early years of the Tintin universe. Its age, its typical presentation for the era, and the handsome presence of its illustrations make it a especially appealing piece within the lot. A document of almost 90 years, today sought after by enthusiasts of old publications related to Hergé and Tintin.
The set also includes an old Tintin newspaper from 1946, accompanied by three other issues shown in the photographs. The covers offer a very strong visual presence, with illustrations and colors that have remained particularly attractive given their age.
The lot as a whole is in very good condition for documents of that era. The colors are still vivid, bright, and well contrasted, especially the reds, yellows, and blues that give a lot of sparkle to the different covers.
Note regarding one of the Tintin newspapers: certain old marks of undetermined origin are visible in the photographs. They may visually resemble traces of tape, glue, or smudges, but they are not tape nor a pasted repair. Their exact origin is unknown, and the photographs allow them to be observed precisely.
The Tintin calendar from 1954 is preserved in two parts. They align perfectly when brought together. It has been deliberately left this way rather than repaired or reinforced with tape, in order to preserve the document in its current condition.
Overall, the set is in very good general condition considering its age. Some small flaws or traces of time may naturally be present. The numerous photographs allow for a precise assessment of the condition of each piece and are an integral part of the description.
A beautiful collection covering several important periods in Tintin's history, with a central piece: a 1938 Le Petit Vingtième, complemented by old Tintin publications and an interesting 1954 calendar. A particularly decorative and representative lot of Hergé's graphic universe.
Extremely careful and protective shipping, adapted to the fragility and age of these documents.
