Description from the seller

Bedside holy water stoup in Paris porcelain with fine gold, on a velvet panel - France, 19th century

This devotion stoup in fine white porcelain is entirely enhanced with gilding in fine gold. The upper part depicts a delicately hand-painted Christ on the cross (details of the wound in the side, light-blue loincloth and golden halo) emerging from a radiant background. The base consists of a holy water basin in the shape of a stylized shell, relief-decorated with a superb golden cherub face.

Features and Authenticity:
.The porcelain is securely fixed by its twisted wires onto a wooden panel clad in a deep blue velvet, all protected by an elegant moulded frame. The back of the wood still bears old handwritten inscriptions in pencil.
• Condition: Very good state of preservation for its age. No cracks or major chips on the porcelain. The gilding shows slight uniform wear that gives it an authentic and charming antique patina.
• Porcelain dimensions: Approximately 21 cm in height.
• Overall frame dimensions: H 29 cm W 15 cm.
A complete, authentic collectible piece, ready to be hung.
