Rare 11-piece collection of art, courtesy and display objects in silver, wood and porcelain, dating to 1900–1910, with Art Deco and Vintage styles.
Description from the seller
Exceptional collection of collectors regrouping high-quality art, courtesy, and display items, spanning more than two centuries of European art history (Louis XVI, Napoleon III, Art Deco and Vintage).
The lot consists of the following 6 items (11 pieces in total):
Rare powder box / tabaquet d'époque Louis XVI / Revolution (18th century):
Material: Real tortoiseshell (or high-quality composition).
Decoration: Cover adorned with a superb miniature portrait painted (gouache/watercolor) depicting an elegant woman with powdered hairstyle of the period, under her original convex glass. Excellent condition for its great age.
Elegant Art Deco powder compact (1920s-1930s):
Material: French solid silver, guaranteed by the official Minerva head assay mark (octagonal frame) and master-engraver’s mark in a lozenge.
Finish: Fine geometric guilloché spiral pattern on the lid. Holloware complete in vermeil (gold over silver) offering a magnificent golden patina.
Art Deco-style jewelry set:
Pieces: A large winged/butterfly-shaped carved brooch and its matching pair of earrings (for pierced ears).
Material: Certified solid silver (marked 925 on the back), iridescent white mother-of-pearl plaques, black onyx, and sparkling marcasite pavé. Supplied with its protective fabric pouch.
Napoleon III-era grand oak table box (19th century, around 1870):
Material: Burnished black wood with a varnished finish.
Decoration: Inlay of brass with gilded filet borders and a central armorial brass cartouche.
Special feature: Supplied with its original brass key. The mechanism has been thoroughly cleaned and freed: the lock works perfectly and the box opens without any difficulty.
Set of 5 miniature pill boxes in Limoges porcelain (20th century):
Decoration: Independent lids painted with bucolic designs and varied pastoral landscapes.
Signatures: All officially stamped on the back “Limoges France.” The interior of each cup is adorned with a painted gold leaf.
Charming romantic powder box from the Restoration era (19th century, around 1830):
Material: Lightweight cardboard construction wrapped in original pink paper on the inside.
Decoration: Lid adorned with a painted scene enhanced with color showing a woman in a romantic dress under a tree, under glass fixed.
Condition of the lot:
Generally good condition. Authentic antique objects showing light, normal signs of use and charm due to their age (natural patina on the silver, slight wear on the cardboard box). No major damage. The glasses and paintings on the miniature boxes are intact, and the Napoleon III lock works perfectly.
