Jules Massenet (1842-1912), compositeur. - Jolie lettre autographe signée à l'écrivain Philippe Gille - 1899

Jules Massenet (1842-1912), composer.

L.S. + envelope, July 22, 1899, 1 page, octavo.

To the writer Philippe Gille (1831-1901), shortly after his election to the Academy of Fine Arts.

“Before leaving again, I need to tell you once more how joyful I am about your election. All our colleagues of the Institute rejoice to see you at our meetings, at our decor(?)!… Well, everyone is happy! But no one more than I, not even you. Great and tender regards to Madame Ph. Gilles & to your son!
Your old friend Massenet.”

Let us recall that Gille is the librettist of Massenet’s opera Manon.
