HISTORY/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Land Rover Santana Series IIA 109’’ of 1969 is an iconic off-road vehicle manufactured under license at the Metalúrgica de Santana plant in Linares (Jaén, Spain). This unit features a three-door configuration with a canvas roof. All vehicle components were manufactured on Spanish soil, preserving authenticity and era specifications. It has undergone a rigorous full restoration from the chassis up to the last screw, returning it to the exact characteristics with which it left the factory. Currently, the vehicle has Spanish plates, all documentation up to date with the ITV valid, and is registered as a Historic Vehicle in Spain.

BODY/Painting:
The body was dismantled piece by piece for a complete repaint in its original mid-grey color (LRC008 / Mid Grey / Welsh Grey) with a glossy finish using AkzoNobel acrylic paint. All exterior trims and metal components, such as bumpers, windscreen frame, door profiles, toolbox, handles and spare wheel mounts, have been stripped and hot-dip galvanised using era-appropriate techniques. The bulkhead received sandblasting and cataphoresis treatment prior to painting, while the aluminum panels were meticulously restored with TIG welding. The hood features its galvanised inner structure and the skin is fixed with unpainted solid rivets in the original style. Additionally, upper door frames, rear door and fully new tempered-glass assembly have been installed. A set of arches and Exmoor Trim canvas in sand color are included, and it is equipped with its original 5.5” offset wheels restored with period Fedima Town and Country retread tires, including the two spare wheels.

INTERIOR:
The cabin is fitted with completely new Exmoor Trim front seats in black synthetic leather mounted on heat-treated and oven-fired frames. At the rear there are four individual benches adapted with fixed UNF nuts for easy quick removal. The original steering wheel has been restored and finished in high-resistance 2K epoxy paint. For comfort, it features the round Bosch heater from the era, restored and controlled by the original Lucas rheostat. The front floors have been renewed in reinforced non-slip aluminium, and the rear compartment retains its galvanised metal strips riveted in place. Additionally, a discreet LED interior light has been integrated in the glovebox, with USB/12V auxiliary charging sockets in the auxiliary panel and rear area.

MECHANICAL:
The six-point diesel engine has been fully rebuilt and sleeved to standard custom specifications with Santana pistons, valves, seats and old-stock oil pump. All technical management has been meticulously addressed: rebuilt injection pump and injectors, timing kit, water pump, alternator, hoses and fuel tank restored. The original gearbox (with first and second gears non-synchronous) has been inspected with new seals and functions correctly. Axles and front/rear transmissions have been rebuilt and inspected in detail with new seals, gaskets and pivots. The braking and clutch systems are completely new, preserving era specifications with restored bronze master cylinders, hoses and reservoir. The suspension has been reinforced with extended twin shocks, long-travel dampers (1 Ton style) and polyurethane silent blocks. Finally, it features a completely new electrical installation with larger-gauge wiring, an auxiliary fuse box in the tool box and relay protections, with an easy option to disable to revert to the original two-fuse circuit.

DOCUMENTS:
The vehicle has all proper Spanish documentation, registered as a Historic Vehicle with valid ITV.

Visiting and inspecting the vehicle prior to bidding is recommended. To arrange an appointment or obtain more information, please contact Catawiki. The vehicle is available for pickup in Cazorla (Andalusia, Spain). Transport costs, ownership transfer or export duties are the responsibility of the buyer.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
