AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Belgian Art Deco vase with ears – Drip glaze – Model 652 – Céramique de Torhout (L.Y.G.) – ca. 1930

Beautiful and distinctive Art Deco vase (with two characteristic geometric handles) from the Belgian earthenware factory Céramique de Torhout (Leo Maes-Vereenooghe).
The vase is rendered in splendid, deep nuances of green and gray-green drip glaze, typical for the high-quality Flemish pottery art from this period.

The design strongly leans toward the formal language of the Amsterdam School and Art Deco, visible in the angular construction of the handles, the octagonal neck and foot rim, and the stylized relief decoration with geometric triangles on the shoulder.

The bottom is fully marked with the sought-after factory stamp in the shape of a butterfly (in which the letters L.Y.G. can be recognized) and the model number 652.

The vase is in excellent and original vintage condition. No hairlines or restorations. There is a small superficial glaze blob/minor flake on the stand ring at the bottom (inherent to the firing process and completely out of sight, see photos) and a light glaze skip on one of the ears. The glaze finish is still beautifully deep.

• Height: 25.5 cm
• Width: 19 cm
• Weight: 1299 g

Will be very carefully packed and shipped with track & trace.
