Floor-standing coat rack, Italian craftsmanship, dating to 1960–1970, built from wood and metal and styled in an antique-inspired design, with a 175 cm height, 30 cm width and 30 cm depth.
Description from the seller
Elegant and imposing floor-standing coat rack (hall stand) of Italian artisanal craftsmanship, dating from the period between the late 1960s and early 1970s. The piece stands out for a refined combination of materials and styles, recalling the Eclectic and Neobaroque taste.
The central shaft is made of solid wood finely worked: the lower half features a splendid torciglione finish (tortile column), while the upper part is turned into a bulb.
The stability of the structure is guaranteed by a heavy and scenographic tripod in brunito brass casting, where each leg is decorated with an anthropomorphic female figure (Caryatid/Siren) finely detailed.
The upper crown (hat shelf) is also in volute-work brass and features multiple hooks for coats and hats. The object presents itself in overall good vintage condition. The wood retains a beautiful luster, the mechanism and the structure are stable. It bears a natural patina of time and slight oxidation on the brass parts, which enhances its retro charm.
