Description from the seller
Probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire this extremely rare catalog!
Up for auction is a 100% original vintage catalog and price list for photographic equipment and supplies, published by the legendary German mail-order company August Stukenbrok Einbeck (ASTRA / Marke AUSTE).
About August Stukenbrok Einbeck:August Stukenbrok Einbeck was a pioneer of the German mail-order business. Founded in the late 19th century in Einbeck, Germany, the company became famous for its massive mail-order catalogs, selling high-quality goods ranging from bicycles and firearms to fine optics and photographic gear. The company operated until 1932, and its historical publications are highly sought-after collector's items in the antiquarian market today.
Dating and Rarity:This catalog was published around 1910–1913 (pre-World War I). This is indicated by the issue designation "Nr. 31" on the first page, which corresponds to the early series of specialized trade catalogs issued by the firm. The uniqueness of this piece is highlighted by its stunning, colorful cover artwork in the transition style of Art Nouveau / Early Art Déco, as well as its original hanging cord used to display it in shops or studios.
What’s Inside?
Original period descriptions and prices for antique cameras (including folding bellows cameras, folding reflex cameras / Spiegel-Reflex-Kameras, and sought-after models like the Klein-Mentor).
Detailed specifications for lenses, plate holders, and turn-of-the-century photo accessories.
An invaluable resource for collectors of early Photographica and history of technology enthusiasts.
Condition:
The catalog is in very good condition for its age (over 110 years old!). As seen in the photos, there are some age-related stains and soil marks on both the outer and inner covers. The inside content pages are clean, beautifully preserved, complete, and fully readable – making this an exceptional copy both historically and visually.
Why Buy?
Specialized photographic catalogs from Stukenbrok appear on the market extremely rarely. This is a true museum-worthy item, perfect for completing an antique camera collection, decorating a studio or office, or as a unique paper collectable investment!
