Old Russian icon with brass oklad – late 19th / early 20th century
Ancient Orthodox Russian icon painted in tempera on wooden panel, with an oklad/riza in embossed metal decorated with floral and geometric motifs.
The work presents a religious composition with Christ in the upper part and figures of saints or apostles in the central scene. Due to surface wear of the painting, precise subject identification remains difficult.
The icon appears authentic and coherent with late Tsarist-era Russian devotional production intended for private domestic use.
